HARDCOVER BOOKS
Ovu ga hoe! (I will not go!)
by Ricky Mitio (edited by Glenn Armstrong)
Published May 2025
Ricky Mitio's father was a tribal warrior, born in the Stone Age, who later became a pioneer evangelist of the Lutheran Church, despite being completely illiterate.
Ricky Mitio was among the first people in the country to be educated, learn a foreign language, work for this new means of exchange called ‘money’, travel to all districts of the country, and explore five continents of the world as 'Papa bilong PNG kopi' - the father of the modern coffee industry in Papua New Guinea.
In a fascinating story, Ricky emulated his father's Christian pioneering spirit, only to find himself Papua New Guinea's most hired and fired state CEO as his fledgling nation struggled to find its feet.
A Catalogue of Selfies from Papua New Guinea
Compiled by Glenn Armstrong
December 2020
A compilation of selfies and back stories from a Facebook promotion conducted in August 2020 by PNG tech retail company Cool Stuf.
This book was founded on the premise that a picture may speak a thousand words, but words speak even louder. A combination of the two presented in a hardcover book is a potent mix.
The other key ingredient is context. In August 2020 we were in the midst of the greatest social challenge of our time – COVID 19 – with its lock-downs, anxiety and uncertainty. Our selfie promo would help ease some of the tension and concern, and have us refocus on what matters the most – life, our self and our loved ones.
100 Treks Across the Kokoda Trail
by Charlie Lynn with Glenn Armstrong
Published March 2020
100 Treks is a large coffee-table book about the rediscovery of the historical significance of the Kokoda Trail by Charlie Lynn. Stunning pictures of the trail and its people on high gloss pages are a feature of the book.
Charlie’s first Kokoda trek was in 1991 when the Trail itself was in parts non-existent. It was neither a trail nor a track, for the most part neglected since the end of the Second World War.
The book contains a historic virtual trek for those unable to walk in the footsteps of our heroes, and rekindle vivid memories for those who have.
The cover of the large format, hard cover book features a painting of Charlie by 1942 Kokoda veteran, Alan Waite who was NSW artist of the year in 1988.
